The American trucking industry plays a critical role in the US supply chain and economy. America’s truck drivers have been on the frontlines of this pandemic, delivery good to and from every corner of this country. Trucking is responsible for moving 72% of all the freight in America. 80% all US communities depend of trucks for the delivery of everyday goods, spanning from raw materials to food, medicine and much more.
The trucking industry refers to the use of road transportation, which is the backbone of the logistics infrastructure in US. Goods are hauled using all types of vehicles which range from semi-trailers, expedite load vans, trucks which are further classified 18-wheelers, box trucks, and light trucks, that move goods across overland routes across the country. Trucking is used from the most macro level till the granular level where mini vans distribute household goods into neighborhoods. Most commonly goods are transported from manufacturing plants to retail distribution centers, but there are other common uses such as the transportation of building materials and waste in the construction industry.
